What is Picking by UOM Process?
Picking by UOM (Unit of Measure) is a process used in Warehouse Management System (WMS) for Pick/Pack or Pick/Pack by SKU in Mobile devices.
A UOM translates to the type of packaging of an SKU. Each (EA) is the system’s standard UOM for picking, and to use other Products UOM like Pallet (PL), Case (Case) and Inner (IN) it must be configured in the Item Warehouse.
The advantages of this process are it frees up labor by combining the demand of multiple shipments, and it enables picking higher UOM, which fulfills multiple orders with a single pick. For example, 1 Pallet = 16 each, consider user are picking a sales order with an item quantity of 32 eaches. When user pick the item quantity of 32 using a mobile device, user can choose 2 pallets instead of 32 eaches.
