Inventory Check
Inventory checking is required for ascertaining which sales orders can be fulfilled. There are a number of issues with an inventory check which need to be considered:
Simple real-time checking
Each inventory check is individual; it does not take account of any stock which has been checked for other bookings. Its purpose is about being able to fulfil one sales order at any given time regardless of all other bookings in place for the same or similar SKUs.
Inventory shortfall forecasting
A more helpful approach would be to take all the inventory and try to see which orders it would fulfil, take into account any ASNs and see what shortfall exists for remaining orders.
Palletisation of Stock for Cross Dock
Spoke to Michael about this. He said that most stock goes into SKUs but there is the odd time it is palettised for shipping straight to the customer after arriving through the warehouse. Is this frequent? There would be different ASNs for the stock to be put away and that going through cross dock.
